Senna is a laxative made from the leaves and fruit of the senna plant and is used on a SHORT-TERM basis to treat occasional constipation. It should not be used for longer than one week. 3,4
Senna belongs to a class of medications called stimulant laxatives and it works by increasing the activity of the intestines to cause a bowel movement.4 Senna also takes about 8 hours to work so it’s best to take it at bedtime so that it works overnight.3

Bisacodyl
